Job Overview:
The position of National Commission for Human Rights Coordinator is a critical role within the UNDP framework, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the National Commission for Human Rights in Pakistan. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating activities related to human rights advocacy, policy development, and implementation of human rights initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of human rights issues in Pakistan, as well as the ability to engage with various stakeholders including government agencies, civil society organizations, and international partners. The consultant will work closely with the UNDP team to ensure that human rights principles are integrated into national policies and practices, and will be expected to provide expert advice and recommendations to improve the overall human rights situation in the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and oversee the activities of the National Commission for Human Rights, ensuring alignment with UNDP objectives and national priorities.
  • Develop and implement strategies for promoting human rights awareness and education among various stakeholders.
  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between the National Commission and other governmental and non-governmental entities.
  • Conduct research and analysis on human rights issues, providing evidence-based recommendations for policy improvements.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on the progress of human rights initiatives and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance the capacity of the National Commission and its partners.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of human rights programs and initiatives, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Serve as a liaison between the National Commission and UNDP, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in human rights advocacy, policy development, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the human rights framework and relevant national and international laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on results-oriented approaches.
  • Proficiency in project management and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Law, Human Rights, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in human rights law or advocacy will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in human rights, governance, or related areas is required. Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations in Pakistan is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNDP's operations and procedures will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 180 working days spread over 12 months, commencing from the date of signing the contract. This is a full-time position, and the consultant will be expected to work closely with the UNDP team and other stakeholders. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
