Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of projects and programs under the Migration Management Unit (MMU) in Italy. This position requires independent leadership and coordination of various initiatives, including Italy's Migration Support Unit (MSU) within the Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP) and activities funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). The incumbent will monitor project implementation, analyze challenges, and recommend adjustments to ensure alignment with the evolving migration landscape. The role also involves providing technical support to the Italian Government on migration management processes, collaborating with IOM missions in the Mediterranean, and ensuring effective communication and coordination with stakeholders. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for budget monitoring, reporting, and supervising staff, contributing to the overall success of IOM's mission in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:
Leading and coordinating the implementation of MMU projects, ensuring adherence to established plans and timelines.
Monitoring project activities, analyzing implementation challenges, and making recommendations for adjustments.
Providing technical support to the Italian Government on migration management processes and procedures.
Collaborating with IOM missions in the Mediterranean to implement GoI-funded projects and facilitate information exchange.
Supporting the preparation and tracking of documentation related to MFA Migration and Premialità funds.
Compiling data on migratory trends for briefings to stakeholders.
Monitoring project budget expenditures and coordinating with Project Managers on budget revisions.
Participating in meetings and conferences related to MMU activities.
Preparing briefing notes, presentations, and reports in a timely manner. 1

Required Qualifications: The position requires a high school diploma with seven years of professional experience or a bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution with five years of relevant experience. Candidates must demonstrate experience in project implementation, reporting, and monitoring, as well as familiarity with the Italian local context, including migration policy and institutional functions. Experience working with vulnerable groups and in humanitarian settings is essential, along with proficiency in office software packages such as MS Word and Excel.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a high school diploma with extensive professional experience or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited academic institution. The educational background should be complemented by practical experience in the field of migration management or related areas.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, particularly in supporting project implementation, reporting, and monitoring activities. Familiarity with the Italian migration context, including its policies and institutional frameworks, is crucial. Experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations, as well as in humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience in using office software packages effectively.
Languages: Fluency in Italian and English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of French and Spanish is considered desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate with a broader range of stakeholders and partners.
