Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant for Conflict Resolution will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: providing alternative dispute resolution services to employees of the United Nations Secretariat and other offices; conducting mediation sessions to assist parties in resolving workplace conflicts through a voluntary and confidential process; maintaining neutrality and impartiality while gathering relevant information; helping to identify and understand the issues and interests of the parties involved; exploring options and generating potential solutions; offering expert advice on dispute resolution techniques tailored to the needs of the visitors; developing and nurturing relationships with visitors to advise them on the services available from UNOMS; and assisting in follow-up communications to gather feedback and inform visitors of additional services that may be beneficial.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in conflict resolution, law, social sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree combined with relevant qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in dispute resolution, legal, or managerial fields is required. Training or work experience specifically in conflict resolution, including mediation, is essential. Experience in an international organizational setting is highly desirable, as it provides context for understanding the complexities of workplace dynamics within the UN framework.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as conflict resolution, law, social sciences, or a related discipline.
