Job Posting Organization:
The position is located within the Regional Office for West and Central Africa (ROSEN) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Job Overview:
The Administrative Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of anti-human trafficking and migrant smuggling technical cooperation activities under UNODC’s projects, specifically the 'Promoting Cooperation and Action against Trafficking in Persons and the Smuggling of Migrants at Global Level (PACTS)' and 'Global Action against the Financial and Digital-based Dimensions of the Smuggling of Migrants'. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage various administrative tasks, support project operations, and ensure compliance with UNODC regulations. The role involves working closely with the Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants Programme Coordinator and other team members to facilitate the smooth execution of project activities in Senegal and Mauritania, as well as other West and Central African countries. The Administrative Assistant will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality while interacting with various stakeholders, including government officials, project participants, and service providers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing assistance on general administration, travel, logistics, and procurement issues related to the Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants projects; supporting the organization of UNODC events and activities; initiating and following up on payment requests; ensuring compliance with travel regulations; maintaining inventory of office equipment; drafting correspondences and reports; interacting with visitors and staff; compiling briefing kits; producing reports and statistics; assisting in budget preparation; maintaining organized filing systems; and performing other work-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor. The role requires a strong ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with UNODC policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional training, certification, or coursework in accounting, finance, administration, procurement, or a related field is desirable. The position requires a minimum of five years of work experience in programme or project administration, which can be reduced to three years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and managing data processing tools is essential. Familiarity with SAP/Umoja is desirable, as is experience working in a multicultural environment and with international organizations.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. However, candidates with additional training, certification, or coursework in relevant fields such as accounting, finance, administration, or procurement will be viewed favorably. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the foundational knowledge necessary to perform the administrative functions required by the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant work experience in programme or project administration. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of managing administrative tasks within the context of international projects. For candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher, the required experience is reduced to three years. Additionally, candidates should have experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and managing data processing tools, which are critical for the effective execution of the role's responsibilities.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required.
