Job Overview:
The Education Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing and implementing education projects within the organization. The coordinator will be responsible for managing project budgets, ensuring high technical quality in project implementation, and providing regular progress reports to the Area Programme Manager. The coordinator will also lead needs assessments to identify gaps in education services and develop proposals for project expansion and maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Education Project Coordinator include:

• Line management of project field staff and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
• Contributing to the development of education strategies and project proposals.
• Managing and implementing delegated education projects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and high technical quality.
• Providing regular progress reports to the Area Programme Manager and Education Specialist.
• Supervising the education team and facilitating their capacity building.
• Liaising with education authorities and stakeholders to ensure effective project implementation.
• Conducting needs assessments and submitting comprehensive reports.
• Managing project finances and budgets, ensuring compliance with grant management guidelines.
• Developing proposals for project maintenance and expansion. 1
• Supporting formal and non-formal schooling initiatives to address barriers to education. 1
• Conducting field visits to monitor educational services and ensure compliance with standards. 1
• Documenting lessons learned and success stories from the program. 1
• Representing the organization in education-related meetings and coordinating with stakeholders. 1
• Overseeing the recruitment of teachers for educational programs. 1
• Ensuring the implementation of vocational skill training programs and conducting labor market assessments. 1

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Planning and Management, Education Leadership, Pedagogy, Social Sciences, or related fields. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for those with a Master’s degree and 4 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience in education projects within emergency contexts, skill training, and capacity building is essential, preferably within the humanitarian sector. Candidates should also have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position and a good understanding of vocational skill training in Ethiopia.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Educational Planning and Management, Education Leadership, Pedagogy, or Social Sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of educational systems and the specific needs of vulnerable populations in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant job experience for candidates with a Master’s degree and 4 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should include working as an Education Project Coordinator in humanitarian or recovery contexts, with a focus on education and skill training. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of achieving results related to the responsibilities of the position.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of local languages is desirable, as it can enhance communication with beneficiaries and stakeholders in the region. Understanding various donor requirements and the ability to work under pressure are also important language-related skills.
