Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: supporting the communications activities of UNIC Mexico; assisting with research, drafting, and production of communications products, particularly audiovisual materials; engaging in outreach efforts to various publics through both traditional and new digital means; supporting the strategic communication initiatives of the United Nations in Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean; coordinating communication activities among UN System agencies in Mexico; producing multimedia stories and digital assets for web and social media; drafting and editing written, audiovisual, and digital content in both Spanish and English; assisting with daily liaison activities with civil society, academia, and NGOs in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic; preparing for and organizing events; collaborating with public and private sectors on UN-related activities; and promoting UN education and youth participation. The intern may also perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme, but candidates should possess skills and knowledge that will benefit the UN during their internship. Familiarity with standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, is essential. Knowledge of multimedia production programs, such as Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), Capcut, and Canva, is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes either enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a bachelor's degree program. This educational foundation should provide the intern with relevant skills and knowledge applicable to the tasks they will undertake during their internship at UNIC Mexico.
