Job Overview:
The Young Professional position at IOM ROK is designed to support the Project Support Unit in implementing digital communications, public information, and visibility activities. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Senior Communication Associate, the Young Professional will play a crucial role in enhancing IOM’s outreach and engagement efforts. This includes supporting content production, managing social media, and contributing to knowledge management across IOM Seoul’s communication platforms. The role is particularly focused on digital content creation and dissemination, ensuring that IOM’s work is effectively communicated to various stakeholders. The Young Professional will also be involved in maintaining the organization’s online presence and ensuring that information is accurate and up-to-date, thereby contributing to the overall mission of IOM in promoting humane migration practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Young Professional will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in drafting, editing, and producing digital content such as social media posts, images, videos, newsletters, and other multimedia materials; managing IOM’s social media channels by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and preparing analytics summaries; producing and disseminating newsletters, including layout preparation and content compilation; maintaining and updating IOM ROK’s and programme websites; drafting and distributing press releases and public information materials; producing branding and donor-visibility materials; organizing digital content archives; and performing other related duties as assigned. This role requires a proactive approach to communication and a strong understanding of digital media.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess Korean citizenship and be between 20 and 36 years of age. At the time of application, applicants must either be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level), be enrolled in a graduate school programme, or have graduated with a university degree within the last year. Additionally, candidates should have experience or working knowledge of social media platforms, marketing communications, and standard office software packages. Previous experience in an international organization is desirable, and familiarity with humanitarian or migration-related work is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, International Development, International Studies, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively contribute to IOM’s communication efforts.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience or working knowledge of using various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Experience in marketing communications, advertising, graphic design, or video editing is considered an advantage. Familiarity with the United Nations system and project implementation processes is preferred, as it will help the candidate navigate the organizational environment more effectively.

Languages:
Professional proficiency in both Korean and English (oral and written) is required for this position. The selection process will specifically evaluate the proficiency of these languages, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure that candidates can effectively communicate in both languages.

Additional Notes:
This position is part of KOICA’s Young Professional Programme, and candidates who have previously participated in the program may only apply once per category. The appointment is subject to funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those receiving financial remuneration or credits from their university or other sponsoring bodies will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with its aims and objectives, including discrimination and harassment.
