Job Overview:
The External Relations Intern position is designed for individuals looking to gain practical experience in the field of international cooperation and humanitarian assistance. The intern will work under the supervision of the UNHCR Korea External Relations Team, engaging in various tasks that support the organization's mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the External Relations Intern include:
  • Providing quality translations of key documents, including press releases, to ensure accurate communication of UNHCR's messages.
  • Supporting the compilation of reports for both internal and external audiences, which may involve data collection and analysis.
  • Assisting in the organization of internal and external events, which may include logistics planning and participant coordination.
  • Drafting social media postings to enhance UNHCR's visibility and engagement with the public.
  • Conducting research to support the team's initiatives and projects.
  • Managing and coordinating visibility items, ensuring that UNHCR's branding is consistent and effective.
  • Supporting administrative tasks within the office as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the team.
  • Performing any other duties as required by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess desirable qualifications and skills that include knowledge of the International Cooperation Development field, with preference given to those with experience related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea International Cooperation Agency, International Organizations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), or the humanitarian work field. Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel is essential, along with experience in communication and design. Strong drafting and documentation skills, cross-cultural communication abilities, interpersonal skills, and social media publishing/monitoring/designing skills are also recommended. Candidates may be required to complete a written test as part of the selection process.

Educational Background:
The position does not specify a particular educational background, but candidates are expected to have relevant training or coursework in international relations, development studies, or a related field. This internship is particularly suited for individuals who are currently enrolled in or have recently completed their studies in these areas.

Experience:

This is a full-time internship role with working hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be assigned to support the UNHCR Korea team. This internship is sponsored by KOICA, and applicants must hold Korean citizenship and be between the ages of 19 and 3
  • The age limit may be extended for those who have served in the military, with specific extensions based on the duration of service. The internship will provide a stipend of KRW 2,200,000 funded directly by KOICA, with potential additional compensation from UNHCR based on their internship allowance policy. Previous participants of the KOICA Young Professional Program are not eligible for this internship.
