Job Overview:
The Young Professional position at IOM ROK is designed for individuals who are eager to support the Humanitarian Assistance Unit. Under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the National Project Officer, the successful candidate will engage in various projects related to humanitarian assistance. This role involves collaboration with relevant units within the mission, as well as with regional offices and headquarters. The Young Professional will be part of a team that aims to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure continuity of program support through the KOICA Young Professional Programme. This position is specifically open to nationals of the Republic of Korea, emphasizing the importance of local expertise in addressing humanitarian challenges. The Young Professional will be expected to conduct desk research, provide technical support for training workshops, and assist in the implementation of capacity-building projects, thereby contributing to IOM's mission of promoting humane migration practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Young Professional will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including conducting desk research both quantitatively and qualitatively to gather and analyze data that supports IOM's engagement with climate change-related partners, such as the Green Climate Fund. The role also includes providing technical support in organizing and delivering training workshops, engaging with partners, and offering research or translation support as needed. Administrative and logistical support for capacity-building projects will be a key responsibility, which includes organizing and delivering training workshops, forums, and events. Additionally, the Young Professional will conduct desk research related to the Republic of Korea's disaster risk reduction policies and practices, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisors, ensuring a comprehensive approach to humanitarian assistance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess Korean citizenship and be between the ages of 20 and 36 at the time of application. Applicants should be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent), enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or have graduated with a university degree within the past year. The position requires proficiency in office software packages such as MS Word and Excel, as well as familiarity with data analysis. Experience in desk research and providing administrative and logistical support for event planning is desirable, along with prior experience in an international environment, which is preferred but not mandatory.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in international development, international relations, political or social sciences, migration studies, human rights, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of migration and humanitarian assistance, as well as the skills needed for effective research and analysis in these areas.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in desk research, with a familiarity with data analysis being a desirable asset. Experience in providing administrative and logistical support for event planning and delivery is also important. While prior experience in an international environment is preferred, it is not strictly required, allowing for a broader range of applicants to be considered for this role.

Languages:
Professional proficiency in both Korean and English, both oral and written, is required for this position. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the necessary language proficiency standards.

Additional Notes:
This position is part of the KOICA Young Professional Programme, and any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation. The appointment will also be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations by the concerned government. Interns may receive a small monthly stipend to help offset costs, but those benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship that includes financial remuneration will not be eligible for this stipend. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, free of charge, for the duration of the assignment, but does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including discrimination and harassment.
