Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Transport Connectivity and Logistic Section of ESCAP's Transport Division is designed to support member States in enhancing sustainable regional transport connectivity, which is crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The intern will engage in various activities, including the Trans-Asian Railway networks, aimed at improving operational efficiency in transport systems. The role requires the intern to conduct qualitative analyses, prepare reports, and synthesize research findings to contribute to the organization's objectives. The internship is full-time, requiring a commitment of five days per week, and can be conducted either onsite in Bangkok or remotely, depending on mutual agreement. Interns are expected to specify their preferred start and end dates in their cover letter, and the internship duration ranges from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 6 months. It is important to note that this internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include writing qualitative briefs and reports on international railway transport and related issues within the ESCAP region, evaluating the effectiveness of policies aimed at sustainable development. The intern will support the preparation of country reports by collecting information from credible sources and identifying key issues in collaboration with Transport Division experts. Additional duties involve reviewing, analyzing, and compiling collected data to prepare comprehensive reports and briefs, including findings and conclusions with appropriate visual aids. The intern will also synthesize research findings for potential replication in other countries within the Asia-Pacific region and prepare presentations on their work and outcomes. Furthermore, the intern may assist with day-to-day tasks within the Division and familiarize themselves with the administrative work typical of UN organizations.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria: they must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or they must be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No prior work experience is required, but the applicant's training, education, or skills should be relevant and beneficial to the United Nations during the internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a relevant degree program. This includes graduate-level education or the final year of an undergraduate program. The focus should be on fields related to economic affairs, transport, logistics, or other relevant disciplines that align with the responsibilities of the internship.

Experience:
While no specific work experience is required for this internship, candidates should demonstrate relevant training or coursework that would contribute to their effectiveness in the role. Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, is considered an asset.
