Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director (TD) for the EpiC MNCH+N Project in Mozambique will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to enhance maternal, newborn, child health, immunization, and nutrition outcomes. This role involves establishing and refining technical frameworks, leading evidence-based technical assistance, and ensuring alignment with health standards. The TD will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the FHI 360 global team, U.S. Government personnel, implementing partners, and the Ministry of Health, to develop workplans and monitor project technical aspects from initiation to delivery. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying new project initiatives and funding opportunities, as well as contributing to global thought leadership and supervising technical staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Director will be responsible for providing overall technical leadership in the development and implementation of strategies aimed at improving health outcomes through strengthened MNCH+N service delivery. Key responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for collaboration with stakeholders, providing technical direction for planning and implementing interventions, leading the planning of project activities, ensuring adherence to technical standards, and contributing to monitoring and evaluation efforts. The TD will also support project staff in documentation and dissemination of lessons learned, collaborate with the Project Director on new initiatives, supervise technical staff, and manage performance and professional development of direct reports. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess technical expertise in developing and implementing strategies to improve MNCH+N outcomes, demonstrated leadership qualities, and strong public relations and diplomacy skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, along with management experience with U.S. Government cooperative agreements. The ability to maintain effective working relationships with government personnel, stakeholders, and international donor agencies is crucial. Proficiency in relevant computer software, including MS Office, is required.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or its international equivalent in a clinical field, public health, nutrition, or a related field is required. Clinical training as a medical doctor or nurse specializing in maternal, neonatal, and child health is also necessary.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in technical leadership and project management, including the design, implementation, and oversight of evidence-based interventions. At least 8 years of leadership experience with strong business acumen and line management experience is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is required, and strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills in English are essential. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Quelimane, Zambezia, and will report to the EpiC Project Director in Maputo. The role may require travel of 10% to 25%.
