Job Overview:
The National Project Officer (Migration, Business and Human Rights) will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation, coordination, and knowledge functions of IOM Thailand’s Migration, Business and Human Rights (MBHR) portfolio. This position is integral to the Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) unit, which addresses a wide range of topics including business and human rights, skills development, and migrant empowerment. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating inputs and collaboration with participating missions for multi-country activities, monitoring operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the MBHR Asia program, and ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The role also involves regular updates on project implementation status, identifying gaps, and suggesting improvements, as well as participating in the development of work plans, project budgets, and evaluation tools. The National Project Officer will facilitate knowledge management and internal coordination, ensuring effective information sharing and timely preparation of project reports. Additionally, the position requires liaising with various stakeholders, including donors, partners, and government counterparts, and contributing to capacity-building activities targeting IOM staff and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation and coordination of the MBHR portfolio, ensuring alignment with IOM policies and donor requirements.
  • Monitor operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the MBHR Asia program.
  • Provide regular updates on project implementation status, identifying gaps and suggesting actions for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and adjustment of work plans, project budgets, and evaluation tools.
  • Coordinate the collection, verification, and analysis of data relevant to MBHR.
  • Support the timely delivery of regional MBHR deliverables, including research and policy dialogue.
  • Facilitate knowledge management and internal coordination by sharing information with relevant IOM units.
  • Prepare and disseminate project reports in accordance with IOM procedures.
  • Liaise with donors, partners, UN agencies, and local authorities. 1
  • Contribute to capacity-building activities for IOM staff and partners. 1
  • Attend relevant conferences and meetings. 1
  • Participate in the preparation of project proposals and communication products. 1
  • Supervise and provide training to project staff. 1
  • Undertake duty travel for project implementation and monitoring. 1
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields with two years of relevant professional experience; or a Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields.
  • In-depth knowledge of migration-related subject areas and key issues relevant to the MBHR portfolio.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of UN systems and donor compliance requirements is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree in these fields is preferred and accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with migrants, refugees, and vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Thai is required, both oral and written. Proficiency in additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset, and language skills will be evaluated during the selection process.

Additional Notes:
This position is a National Officer role classified as NO-A, with a monthly salary of THB 141,061.2
  • It is a one-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension. The position is open only to Thai nationals. Candidates must be medically fit for appointment and will undergo verification of residency and visa requirements. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct incompatible with its aims and objectives, including discrimination and harassment. The recruitment process does not involve any fees.
