Job Overview: The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer (Fleet & Assets) plays a crucial role in the day-to-day implementation of logistics functions within the NRC. This position is primarily responsible for managing assets and fleet operations in the Area Office located in Chernihiv and Shostka. The officer will ensure the effective utilization of NRC assets and coordinate stock movements and fleet operations with other assistants and technical officers across different Area Offices (AOs) and the Country Office (CO). The role requires adherence to NRC policies and guidelines, as well as the ability to conduct daily operational logistics activities, prepare necessary reports, and ensure the availability of safety equipment as recommended by the Health, Safety, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (HSS) team. The Logistics Officer will act as the focal point for fleet and assets management in the specified locations, ensuring that all logistics-related documents are properly filed and that fuel consumption is closely monitored.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Logistics Officer will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: supporting the Logistics Team Leader in managing, evaluating, and reporting on stock and assets as well as fleet management activities; conducting regular stock counts and control; planning, scheduling, and monitoring staff transportation and the movement of materials and equipment at the National Area Office (NAO) level; ensuring that all NRC vehicles are in proper operational condition and coordinating necessary maintenance; ensuring that vehicles are equipped with required movement logging documents and that they pass safety audits; ensuring compliance with NRC Logistics Handbook and country-level policies regarding stock usage; preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports on vehicle and fuel usage; creating a Daily Movement Plan and communicating it to relevant staff; managing taxi orders for NRC staff in Chernihiv and Shostka; and performing any other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 3 years of experience working in logistics, with at least 2 years in a humanitarian organization. Candidates should possess specific knowledge of motor vehicle construction and layout, as well as previous experience managing a fleet of drivers for a minimum of 6 months. Experience working in complex and volatile contexts is also essential. Strong computer literacy, particularly in MS Word, Excel, and Internet applications, is required, along with a basic understanding of the context in which NRC operates.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for effective logistics management and operations within a humanitarian context. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of logistics in challenging environments.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics, with at least 2 years specifically within a humanitarian organization. This experience should include managing fleet operations and understanding the intricacies of logistics in crisis situations. Previous experience in complex and volatile contexts is highly valued, as it prepares the candidate for the challenges faced in the field.
