Job Overview:
The Finance & coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Grants Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the NIF Secretariat by ensuring sound financial management and compliance with donor requirements. This position is essential for effective grants administration and contributes significantly to strategic resource planning, donor engagement, and reporting processes that underpin NIF’s coordination mandate. The Coordinator will manage budgets, monitor cash flow, prepare donor financial reports, oversee grants compliance, and support proposal development. This role requires a proactive approach to financial documentation, maintaining internal control systems, and collaborating with program and operations teams to align financial processes with organizational goals. The position is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented and possess strong analytical skills, as they will be responsible for ensuring that financial practices meet both organizational and donor standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance & Grants Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities that include: ensuring compliance with NRC/NIF financial policies, donor regulations, and audit requirements; maintaining accurate financial records and documentation systems; preparing and submitting timely financial reports and analysis; supporting grants management processes and ensuring donor compliance; monitoring budgets and cash flow for NIF operations; contributing to proposal development and donor reporting; upholding ethical standards and confidentiality; and representing NIF positively in donor and partner engagements. Specific responsibilities include preparing donor budgets, conducting monthly Budget vs Actual (BvA) analysis, processing payments and staff advances, maintaining internal control systems, archiving financial documents, developing and maintaining an overview of all grants, reviewing proposals for compliance, ensuring donor compliance for NIF grants, preparing high-quality donor financial reports, supporting training on anti-corruption policy and financial systems, and working closely with NIF program and operations teams.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BSc in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. They should have 3–5 years of experience in financial and grants management within humanitarian or development contexts. A strong understanding of donor rules and regulations is essential, along with skills in proposal and report writing, financial analysis, and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems, particularly Agresso, is preferred. Excellent English communication skills are mandatory, as the role involves significant interaction with donors and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complexities of financial management and grants administration within the context of humanitarian and development work.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 3–5 years of relevant experience in financial and grants management, specifically within humanitarian or development contexts. This experience should include a strong understanding of donor rules and regulations, as well as practical skills in financial analysis and compliance. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, which is crucial in the fast-paced environment of humanitarian work.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as effective communication is essential for interacting with donors and stakeholders. While English is the primary language required, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the regions in which NIF operates.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Abuja, Nigeria, with a contract duration of 12 months, which is renewable based on performance and funding availability. The role is classified at NRC Grade 7, and the reporting line is to the NIF Director. The position may require travel of up to 30%.
