Job Overview: The Information Management Specialist at UNFPA in Ukraine will play a crucial role in managing information related to the organization's activities. This position involves assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating data and statistical activities that are essential for the effective functioning of the Country Programme. The specialist will work closely with the Deputy Representative to ensure that data management activities align with the strategic goals of UNFPA, particularly in the context of the new Country Programme (2025-2029). The role requires a strong understanding of data needs, methodologies, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights that support decision-making and program implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Analyzing trends, risks, and data that impact the implementation of the Country Programme.
Leading UNFPA's engagement in inter-agency processes related to data and information.
Providing technical guidance on data management methodologies and supporting various data management activities such as surveys and statistical analysis.
Supporting data security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, protection, and responsible data-sharing practices.
Developing information management products, including indicators, templates, maps, and dashboards.
Contributing to the preparation of multi-agency programmes by providing relevant data and developing indicators.
Developing and refining the M&E framework, including performance indicators and targets.
Building capacity among staff for effective implementation of the M&E framework.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in fields such as International Relations, Social Sciences, Statistics, Information Management, Data Science, Demography, or Computer Science. Additionally, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in data gathering, management, and analysis, particularly in a humanitarian or development context. Experience with data management tools, such as Microsoft Power BI, is essential, and knowledge of international protection, human rights, and law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">humanitarian law is desirable.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This includes disciplines such as International Relations, Social Sciences, Statistics, Information Management, Data Science, Demography, or Computer Science. The educational background should provide a strong foundation in data analysis and management, as well as an understanding of the social and political contexts in which UNFPA operates.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in data management and analysis. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with data to support policy formulation and implementation, particularly in international organizations or in humanitarian settings. Experience with data management tools and methodologies is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, fluency in Russian or Ukrainian is desirable, as it will facilitate communication and collaboration within the local context and with stakeholders.
