Job Overview: The Data Management and Analysis Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) program under the supervision of the DTM Programme Officer. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including the development of tools for data collection, management, and analysis. The officer will be expected to apply data visualization techniques to present findings from assessments and surveys effectively. The role requires close collaboration with other Information Management colleagues to ensure accurate data collection and reporting. The officer will also be responsible for the design and implementation of integrated data collection mechanisms across all DTM activities, ensuring that data is reliable and submitted promptly for further processing. Additionally, the officer will assist in the analysis of new datasets and support the DTM team in delivering GIS outputs and population movement analysis, responding to humanitarian needs as they arise.
Duties and Responsibilities: The officer will be tasked with a comprehensive set of duties including: supporting the design and implementation of data collection systems; managing and processing data for DTM's site assessments and event tracking; providing recommendations for technology integration; liaising with various stakeholders to address system irregularities; participating in technical meetings; assisting in the development of user manuals and training programs; ensuring data accuracy and adherence to protection policies; providing technical support to field enumerators; and conducting training sessions to enhance the capacity of staff and stakeholders. The officer will also be responsible for analyzing data and producing reports that inform decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Information Systems and Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution. They should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in data management and analysis, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Familiarity with statistical tools and applications, as well as proficiency in design software such as Adobe Suite, is highly desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and have experience presenting to diverse audiences. Knowledge of data science best practices and experience in database management and GIS are essential.
Educational Background: A university degree in Information Systems and Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. This educational background is critical for understanding the technical aspects of data management and analysis required for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience in data management, analysis, and GIS, particularly within the humanitarian sector. Experience with statistical analysis software such as R, Stata, SQL, or SPSS is essential. Familiarity with handling confidential data and advanced data visualization techniques is also required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with diverse datasets and a strong understanding of data collection methodologies.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Additionally, a working knowledge of local languages in Nigeria, particularly in the Northeast, Northwest, and North-Central regions, is desirable. Proficiency in IOM's official languages, which include French and Spanish, will be evaluated during the selection process, potentially through written and oral assessments.
