Job Overview:
The National Project Support Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination and facilitation of project development and donor reporting for IOM's programs and project activities. This position requires collaboration with various units at Headquarters and Administrative Centres, ensuring that project implementation aligns with IOM's regional and country strategies. The officer will assist in monitoring the operational, programmatic, administrative, and financial aspects of projects, keeping the supervisor informed about project status, identifying gaps, and suggesting improvements. The role also involves participating in the development of work plans, project budgets, and evaluation tools, as well as coordinating data collection and analysis to enhance project visibility and awareness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Project Support Officer include:
  • Supporting the Chief of Mission and National Programme Support Officer in project coordination and facilitation.
  • Assisting in the operational, programmatic, administrative, and financial monitoring of projects.
  • Keeping supervisors informed about project implementation status and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Participating in the development of work plans, budgets, and evaluation tools.
  • Coordinating data collection, verification, and analysis, and updating information management systems.
  • Preparing and disseminating project reports in accordance with IOM procedures.
  • Liaising with donors, partners, UN agencies, and local authorities.
  • Contributing to capacity-building activities for IOM staff and partners.
  • Attending relevant conferences and meetings. 1
  • Participating in project proposal preparation and resource mobilization efforts. 1
  • Supervising and training project staff. 1
  • Undertaking duty travel for project implementation and monitoring. 1
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields is acceptable. Candidates must demonstrate experience in liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations, as well as working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming, financial regulations, and strong communication skills are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. A Master’s degree in these areas is preferred and can substitute for the required professional experience. The educational background should be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to migration and project management.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and UN agencies. Experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable populations is crucial. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of migration-related issues and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where IOM operates, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the position.
