Job Overview: The National Programme Support Officer (PGLS) position is designed to provide comprehensive support in various aspects of program coordination and innovation within IOM. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Head of Programme Coordination and Innovation Unit and will closely collaborate with senior management, resource management, and program managers. The role involves assisting in knowledge management, resource mobilization, external liaison functions, grants management, project development, and reporting. The candidate will be responsible for drafting project proposals, internal and external reports, and maintaining accurate records of project activities. This position requires a proactive approach to project monitoring and administrative support, ensuring that all processes align with IOM's internal requirements and procedures. The candidate will also be expected to undertake field visits within Nigeria to monitor project implementation and provide technical support during conferences, meetings, and training events.
Providing general assistance to the National Programme Support Officer in drafting new project proposals.
Drafting internal and external project/programme-level reports.
Assisting in the processing and submission of project proposals, donor reports, partner agreements, and other relevant documents.
Following up on project activities and maintaining a knowledge base of all projects within the area of responsibility.
Maintaining accurate records of correspondence, files, project development, reporting products, and administrative information.
Assisting in the implementation of administrative monitoring mechanisms and procedures for programme/project levels.
Providing administrative and technical support in the preparation and organization of conferences, meetings, trainings, and other events.
Undertaking field visits in Nigeria to assist in project implementation and monitoring.
Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a university degree in Political or Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Migration Studies, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, along with three years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a school diploma and five years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of program development, reporting, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as familiarity with financial and business procedures.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, International Relations, Migration Studies, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. Alternatively, a school diploma with extensive relevant experience is acceptable. The educational qualifications must be from institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the candidate has received a quality education that meets international standards.
Experience: Candidates should have experience working with international humanitarian organizations, non-governmental organizations, or governmental institutions in a multicultural setting. Experience in project development and implementation, particularly with various project donors, is highly desirable. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or similar institutions is considered an advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational environment and challenges faced in the field.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial and will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the language requirements effectively.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, meaning only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Nigeria will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon the candidate's medical fitness for the role, verification of residency, visa, and any necessary authorizations by the relevant government authorities.
