Job Overview:
The Business Data Analyst position at the EBRD is primarily focused on assisting in the establishment of the Bank’s Guarantee Transformation Programme. This involves implementing a robust data management framework, enhancing governance processes, and establishing data standards. The role is integral to the enterprise data management efforts at the EBRD, which is a shared-service team that collaborates with various business partners and subject matter experts across the organization. The core function of the Data Management team is to serve as a center of excellence for data and reporting, ensuring that data is readily available, easily accessible, and reliable for analysis and decision-making. The analyst will contribute to the development of effective processes and procedures that govern data quality and support the delivery of reporting and analytic solutions that meet business needs. The Guarantees Transformation Programme aims to standardize tools and processes for capturing and managing key guarantee data, enhancing the Monarch platform, and establishing a central data repository for improved reporting and monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for several key duties and responsibilities, including:
  • Contributing to the definition and implementation of the data governance and quality framework to ensure a structured approach to data management.
  • Developing controls such as tools, templates, and methodologies to support data management processes and standards.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and business SMEs to define standards and gather critical data elements that reflect the Bank’s guarantee data needs.
  • Conducting data gap analysis and identifying management requirements to optimize data quality.
  • Supporting business stakeholders in navigating data governance processes from definition to approval and implementation in the Bank’s data management toolset.
  • Engaging with business stakeholders to identify critical data elements for corporate publications and supporting the development of EBRD Glossary entries.
  • Identifying reference data requirements and supporting the definition, documentation, and maintenance of reference data in EBX.
  • Supporting data quality projects by documenting data quality rules and developing data quality tools.
  • Documenting data changes in business processes and related IT systems to ensure compliance with data governance requirements. 1
  • Providing analytic support to business areas in implementing automated reporting solutions and integrating data visualizations into the Bank’s reporting architecture.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Business Data Analyst position should possess a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience. Required qualifications include:
  • A strong understanding of data management capabilities, particularly in data governance and data quality.
  • Familiarity with the activities of the EBRD, including its clients, products, funding, and processes.
  • Basic skills in data management tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-oriented approach.
  • Self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines.
  • A capacity to work autonomously while also being a collaborative team player.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree or an international equivalent, preferably in a field related to finance or investment banking. Equivalent experience in a relevant area may also be considered.

Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of work experience in data management is required, with a strong awareness of reference data policies and procedures. The candidate should have a proven track record of working effectively in data management roles.

Languages:
While proficiency in English is mandatory, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the EBRD's operational regions.
