Job Overview: The position of Expert.e National.e en Politiques Environnementales involves providing expert advice and support in the field of environmental policies. The position is expected to last for a period of 12 months, during which the expert will work closely with UNDP and other partners to implement effective environmental policies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Expert.e National.e en Politiques Environnementales include but are not limited to: conducting comprehensive assessments of existing environmental policies; developing and recommending new policies and strategies to improve environmental governance; collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations to promote sustainable practices; providing technical assistance and capacity building to stakeholders; preparing reports and presentations on environmental policy issues; facilitating workshops and training sessions; monitoring and evaluating the implementation of environmental policies; and ensuring compliance with national and international environmental standards. The expert will also be responsible for engaging with local communities to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, policy analysis, or a related field. A proven track record of working on environmental issues, particularly in policy development and implementation, is essential. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Strong project management skills and experience in capacity building are also required. Familiarity with UNDP's mission and operations will be considered an asset.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Public Policy, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in environmental management or sustainable development will be advantageous. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant field will be given preference.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental policy development, analysis, and implementation. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and capacity building initiatives is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in both French and Arabic is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in the region. Proficiency in English is considered a strong asset, as it will facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a full-time contract for a duration of 12 months, with a total of 63 working days expected. The role is based in Algeria, and candidates must be eligible to work in the country. The compensation package will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
