Job Overview: The UN Volunteer will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects within the Country Programme. This includes development planning, delivery of results, and reporting. The role involves supporting programme development and planning, managing and monitoring programme implementation, providing technical and operational support, building partnerships, and contributing to knowledge management and capacity building. The volunteer will work closely with the Education Specialist and other stakeholders to ensure effective programme delivery and adherence to UNICEF's policies and strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support programme development and planning by contributing to situation analyses, researching development trends, and assisting in the establishment of programme goals and strategies.
Manage and monitor programme implementation by collaborating with internal colleagues and partners, suggesting solutions to implementation issues, and participating in evaluations and reviews.
Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts and partners, ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies.
Build partnerships with stakeholders, draft communication materials for advocacy, and participate in inter-agency meetings.
Contribute to knowledge generation and capacity building initiatives, sharing lessons learned and promoting best practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize information and present it clearly. They should demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to UNICEF's mission. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment are essential. Candidates should also have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Educational Background: A degree in education, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in education or development would be an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in education programme management, monitoring, or evaluation. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is preferred, as well as familiarity with UNICEF's policies and procedures.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the working language in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Proficiency in English is desirable, and knowledge of other local languages would be an advantage.
Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer role, and the duration of the contract is typically for a year, with the possibility of extension. The role is full-time and may require travel within the country. Compensation details are not specified, but volunteers may receive a stipend to cover living expenses.
