Job Overview: The National Communication Consultant will be responsible for supporting the Assembly Diaspora Development Partnership (ADDP) initiative. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies that effectively convey the objectives and activities of the ADDP. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that communication efforts align with the overall goals of the UNDP and the ADDP. The position requires a deep understanding of communication principles and practices, as well as the ability to engage with diverse audiences. The consultant will also be expected to produce high-quality communication materials, including reports, press releases, and social media content, to promote the ADDP's initiatives and achievements. Additionally, the consultant will play a key role in organizing events and workshops to facilitate dialogue and knowledge sharing among stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Communication Consultant include, but are not limited to:
Developing a comprehensive communication strategy for the ADDP that aligns with UNDP's objectives.
Creating and disseminating communication materials such as newsletters, brochures, and social media posts to raise awareness about the ADDP.
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather information and insights that can be used to inform communication efforts.
Organizing and facilitating workshops, seminars, and events to promote the ADDP and engage with the diaspora community.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication strategies and making recommendations for improvement.
Providing technical support and guidance to UNDP staff and partners on communication best practices.
Ensuring that all communication materials adhere to UNDP's branding and messaging guidelines.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the National Communication Consultant position should possess the following qualifications:
Proven experience in communication, public relations, or a related field, preferably within an international development context.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear and compelling communication materials.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms, including social media, websites, and email marketing.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Knowledge of the diaspora community and issues related to diaspora engagement is an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, international relations, or a related field. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in communication, public relations, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development and diaspora engagement, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those spoken by diaspora communities in Ghana, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.
Additional Notes: This position is a consultancy role with a contract duration of 40 working days distributed over a period of 3 months. The consultant will work remotely but may be required to attend meetings and events in Ghana as necessary. The role is part-time, and the consultant will be compensated based on the agreed terms outlined in the contract.
