Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's duties will include supporting the internal SEM Group and its coordination efforts to enhance sustainability practices within OHCHR. Specific responsibilities will involve monitoring and implementing the organizational effectiveness action plan (OEAP) related to sustainability, conducting research on human rights and environmental management systems, and contributing to the development of strategies and policies on sustainable environmental management. The intern will also assist in advocacy and communication efforts, support greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, and provide additional support to the SEM Group as needed. This role requires a proactive approach to research, analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders to promote human rights in the context of environmental sustainability.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program in Law, International Relations, Political Science, Development, Environmental Policy, Administration, Business Management, Sustainable Environmental Management, or a related field (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program in the aforementioned fields (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a relevant field of study is essential. Candidates must be able to provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the application process.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of a first university degree in fields closely related to human rights and environmental sustainability. This includes disciplines such as Law, International Relations, Political Science, Development, Environmental Policy, Administration, Business Management, and Sustainable Environmental Management.
