Job Overview:
The Managing Director (MD) for Central Europe & Baltic States is tasked with overseeing the Bank's operations and strategic initiatives in Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, and the Slovak Republic. This role involves formulating and executing the Bank's business plan and country strategies, leading a large team, and engaging in policy dialogue with governmental and institutional stakeholders. The MD will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of the Bank's objectives, managing investment projects, and maintaining compliance with the Bank's operational principles. The position requires a strong focus on business development, stakeholder engagement, and the promotion of the Bank's transformation agenda, ensuring that resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The MD will define the strategic direction of the Bank in the Central Europe & Baltic region, coordinating activities across various business areas according to country strategies. Responsibilities include engaging with Board members, providing business leadership, leading policy reform dialogues, representing the Bank in high-level relationships, overseeing loan and investment portfolios, ensuring compliance with integrity procedures, and managing the regional offices. The MD will also be accountable for staff management, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development, while promoting the Bank's leadership competencies and workplace behaviors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess extensive international experience in investment, commercial, or development banking, with a strong background in structuring and negotiating investment transactions. Proven experience in leading policy reform dialogues and developing strategic plans is essential. The ideal candidate should have a track record of managing complex stakeholder situations and leading large teams effectively. Strong partnership skills and the ability to contribute positively to senior management groups are also required.

Educational Background:
A relevant academic background at the postgraduate level is required, along with a combination of academic and professional qualifications that demonstrate the candidate's expertise in banking and finance.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience in the banking sector, particularly within the EBRD region, with a focus on investment transactions and policy reform. A history of accomplishments in negotiating and managing complex situations with multiple stakeholders is crucial, as is experience in leading and developing large teams.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Central Europe & Baltic region would be advantageous.
