Job Overview:
The Durable Solutions Coordinator/Expert will play a pivotal role in leading the Middle East Durable Solutions Program (ME DSP) work, focusing on durable solutions programming and capacity development. This position involves engaging with external stakeholders, including donors and policymakers, to influence policies and strategies that affect displaced communities. The coordinator will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the program, identifying opportunities for engagement, and building relationships with key partners. The role requires a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality activities and ensuring that the programming is responsive to the needs of displacement-affected communities. The coordinator will also facilitate technical trainings, workshops, and events to enhance the capacity of ME DSP members and partners, ensuring that best practices are documented and shared across the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Durable Solutions Coordinator/Expert include leading the development and implementation of durable solutions programming, organizing technical trainings and workshops for ME DSP members and partners, and documenting best practices from ongoing programs. The coordinator will convene discussions among diverse stakeholders, including government authorities and humanitarian partners, to foster collaboration on durable solutions. Additionally, the role involves managing the creation of tools and online resources to support program implementation, facilitating consultations and learning events, and ensuring coherence in programming across different countries. The coordinator will also engage in policy influencing activities, mapping relationships with key stakeholders, and coordinating various influencing initiatives such as events and publications. Furthermore, the role includes supporting research efforts, analyzing displacement-related data, and assisting in grant management and reporting processes.

Required Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of management experience in emergency or development contexts, ideally as a director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">country director or senior manager within a humanitarian or development organization. Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience in durable solutions programming and policy work, with a strong preference for experience in the Middle East. Excellent coordination and networking skills are essential, along with strong interpersonal and communication abilities to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of partners. Experience in capacity development, including adult learning and mentoring, is also required. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and writing skills, with a proven track record of producing high-quality research and policy briefs. Proficiency in IT and familiarity with social media platforms are necessary, as well as the ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree with advanced training or technical qualifications relevant to the humanitarian or development sector. This educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of displacement and durable solutions programming.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of seven years in management roles within emergency or development contexts. Candidates should have a strong background in durable solutions programming and policy work, with additional experience in the Middle East considered a strong advantage. The role demands excellent coordination skills and the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a strong working knowledge of Arabic is desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders in the region.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is for a duration of 12 months, and it is classified under the Non-Management (F) band. The work location is primarily in Amman, Jordan, and Damascus, Syria, with frequent travel expected. The anticipated start date for this position is February 202
