Job Overview: The position of national consultant for the development of the procedural manual is crucial for the Coordination Platform of Agroforestry Initiatives in the Coffee-Cocoa sector. The consultant will be responsible for creating a comprehensive manual that outlines the procedures and guidelines necessary for effective coordination and implementation of agroforestry initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of the agroforestry sector, particularly in relation to coffee and cocoa production, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable procedures. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders in the sector to ensure that the manual meets the needs of all parties involved and facilitates the successful implementation of agroforestry practices. The assignment is expected to last for 20 working days, including validation and delivery of outputs, and the consultant must be able to submit their proposal through the UNDP supplier portal by the specified deadline.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Conducting a thorough analysis of existing procedures related to agroforestry initiatives in the coffee-cocoa sector.
Engaging with stakeholders, including farmers, cooperatives, and government agencies, to gather input and insights on current practices and challenges.
Drafting a procedural manual that clearly outlines the steps, responsibilities, and best practices for implementing agroforestry initiatives.
Ensuring that the manual is aligned with national policies and international standards for sustainable agriculture.
Facilitating workshops or meetings to validate the manual with stakeholders and incorporate their feedback.
Finalizing the manual and delivering it in both digital and printed formats.
Providing ongoing support and clarification to stakeholders regarding the manual's implementation after its release.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in agroforestry, sustainable agriculture, or a related field. They should have proven experience in developing procedural documents or manuals, particularly in the context of agricultural initiatives. Strong analytical skills, excellent written communication abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders are essential. Familiarity with the coffee-cocoa sector in Ivory Coast will be considered a significant advantage. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and the principles of participatory approaches in project implementation.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in agriculture, environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field is required. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree may be considered if they have extensive relevant experience in the agroforestry sector. Additional certifications or training in project management or stakeholder engagement will be beneficial.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in the agroforestry or agricultural development sector. Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies on similar projects will be highly regarded. Proven track record in developing procedural manuals or guidelines, as well as experience in facilitating stakeholder consultations, is essential.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the position requires communication with local stakeholders and the preparation of documents in French. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international partners and access to global resources.
Additional Notes: This position is a short-term consultancy role with a contract duration of 20 working days. The consultant will be expected to work independently while also collaborating with the UNDP team and local stakeholders. The position is not full-time in the traditional sense, as it is project-based and requires flexibility in scheduling. Compensation will be based on the consultant's experience and the UNDP's standard rates for similar consultancy roles. The consultant may be required to travel within Ivory Coast to engage with stakeholders as part of the assignment.
