This position involves working closely with the Planning and Development Department of the Government of Sindh to manage and analyze data related to flood recovery efforts. The volunteer will be responsible for developing and managing datasets, conducting data analysis, and creating visualizations to support decision-making processes. The role requires a proactive approach to data management and a commitment to enhancing the transparency and accountability of financial resources allocated for recovery efforts. The volunteer will also assist in preparing reports and ensuring that data aligns with reporting requirements, thereby contributing to the overall success of the recovery program.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks including:
Data Management and Engineering: Develop, clean, structure, and manage datasets required by the Provincial Rapid Response Unit (RRU). Build data pipelines and integration workflows to facilitate information flow between provincial systems and RRU platforms. Organize and validate provincial level data for monitoring and reporting processes. Prepare provincial data for integration into the larger 4RF dashboard.
Data Analysis and Visualization: Conduct descriptive and analytical assessments of project, financial, and geographic data. Prepare data summaries, charts, and visual outputs for senior officials and donor meetings. Develop and maintain visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Tableau. Support the creation of performance indicators based on provincial recovery data.
Support to Monitoring and Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports. Compile data from various sources including district offices and implementing partners. Support verification and quality checks of reported data to ensure accuracy and alignment with FRP and 4RF reporting requirements.
Technical Support and Documentation: Provide technical support in data extraction, cleaning, and file management. Maintain documentation including data dictionaries and user guides. Coordinate with technical teams to ensure smooth integration of provincial data into the 4RF dashboard.
Coordination and Capacity Support: Participate in provincial consultations and review meetings related to data and monitoring. Train staff on data handling, visualization, and reporting practices. Liaise with line departments to collect and validate datasets required by RRU Sindh.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of data management principles. Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is essential. Familiarity with statistical analysis and reporting is also required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate accountability, adaptability, creativity, and professionalism in their work. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in data analysis or visualization tools will be considered an asset. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data management practices and methodologies.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have prior experience in data management, analysis, or related fields. Experience working with government agencies or international organizations is preferred. Familiarity with the context of disaster recovery and humanitarian response will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing data projects and delivering results in a timely manner.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Urdu or other local languages is highly desirable and will enhance communication with local stakeholders and communities.
Additional Notes: This is a national UNV assignment, and the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 131,372 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities, and living expenses. The assignment includes life health and permanent disability insurance, health insurance for up to three dependents, and a resettlement allowance for satisfactory service. The position is full-time and requires a commitment to the goals and values of UNDP.
