Job Overview:

The intern will gain practical experience in a fast-paced newsroom environment, focusing on the production of daily news and multimedia content in Chinese. The role involves drafting news articles, translating materials, proofreading, and assisting in the creation of various multimedia products. Interns will also have the opportunity to work on feature stories and engage in research and interviews, contributing to the overall mission of disseminating UN-related news and information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include drafting Chinese news articles by integrating and translating information from various sources such as reports, press releases, and official statements. They will translate English video scripts and photo captions into Chinese, proofread articles before and after publication, and assist with fact-checking and background research. Additionally, the intern will help produce graphic, visual, and audio content, work on feature stories, and collaborate with the UN Partnerships Unit to review the partnerships database. Other duties may include outreach and any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, English, or translation studies. Alternatively, applicants may be in their final year of a bachelor's degree in a related field. Proficiency in standard word processing and spreadsheet software is required, along with a demonstrated interest in the UN's work and the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
