Job Overview: The ET Consultant / External Affairs Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Global Engagement at the World Bank Group. This position is designed for individuals who are adept at translating strategic priorities into actionable workflows, ensuring that stakeholder engagement and partnership initiatives are effectively managed. The consultant will be responsible for anticipating the Director's needs, preparing high-quality materials for meetings, and ensuring that all activities align with the department's objectives. The role requires a blend of strategic thinking, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment, balancing long-term planning with immediate operational support.
Duties and Responsibilities: The ET Consultant will have a variety of responsibilities, including:
Providing strategic support by translating the Director's priorities into clear workflows and timelines.
Anticipating the Director’s needs by monitoring emerging issues and preparing materials for meetings and engagements.
Coordinating and following through on commitments from the Director’s office, ensuring clarity of next steps and deadlines.
Managing requests to the Director’s office and maintaining effective information flow across teams.
Collaborating with the Global Engagement team to strengthen coordination and teamwork.
Supporting the Director in reviewing and ensuring the quality of briefs, presentations, and other materials.
Developing tools and reporting mechanisms to monitor progress and capture key deliverables.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in International Relations, Development, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in stakeholder engagement, strategy, partnerships, or development operations is required. Candidates should demonstrate experience in cross-sector collaboration, strong organizational and analytical skills, and exceptional communication abilities. A deep understanding of the World Bank Group’s mission and operations is preferred.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Development, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of global development and stakeholder engagement.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5-7 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass stakeholder engagement, strategy development, partnerships, or operations within the development sector. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working collaboratively across sectors, including multilateral institutions, private sector entities, and civil society organizations.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this role.
Additional Notes: This position is a local recruitment opportunity with a term duration of one year, which may be renewable at the discretion of the World Bank Group. The selected candidate will be subject to a lifetime maximum ET appointment of three years.
