Job Overview: This internship is designed to provide students and recent graduates with an opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of sustainable development financing. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals in the FSDO, contributing to projects and initiatives that aim to enhance the financing landscape for sustainable development. The internship is structured to be full-time, requiring interns to commit to 35 hours per week. Interns will have the chance to engage in research, analysis, and support activities that align with the office's objectives. The position may also offer flexible work arrangements, allowing for remote or hybrid work depending on the circumstances of the successful candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: assisting in the preparation of reports and presentations related to sustainable development financing; conducting research on financing mechanisms and strategies; supporting the organization of meetings, workshops, and events; collaborating with team members on ongoing projects; and providing general administrative support as needed. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in discussions and contribute ideas to enhance the office's initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is essential. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and research skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. The educational background should ideally be in fields related to economics, finance, international relations, or sustainable development, as these areas are directly relevant to the work of the FSDO.
Experience: While no prior professional work experience is required, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This could include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and financing.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application. Proficiency in French is particularly beneficial, given that it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
