Job Overview:
The Cardiologist position at the UN Health Care Center is crucial for delivering specialized cardiovascular health care to UN staff and their eligible dependents. The role involves accurate diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions, ensuring timely referrals for advanced care when necessary. The Cardiologist will conduct comprehensive medical examinations, provide consultations, and perform various cardiology investigations, including echocardiography and Holter monitoring. The individual will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and other medical staff to ensure that all clients receive the highest standard of care, contributing to the overall well-being of the UNHCC community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Cardiologist will be responsible for providing consultation services to UNHCC clients during working days and emergency consultations during off-duty hours as needed. Key responsibilities include conducting cardiology consultations with empathy, performing necessary cardiology investigations, interpreting results, and assisting patients in obtaining appropriate treatments. The Cardiologist will maintain confidentiality, initiate medical evacuations when required, and write detailed medical reports for referrals. Additionally, the role involves conducting routine screenings, participating in public health education, and attending continuous medical education sessions to stay updated in the field.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a first degree in general medicine, with a specialty in Internal Medicine and subspecialty in Cardiology. A minimum of five years of work experience in the field of Cardiology is required. Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and full command of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. The role demands strong ethical considerations and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a medical degree with a specialization in Internal Medicine and further specialization in Cardiology. This advanced training is essential to ensure the Cardiologist can provide the necessary expertise in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in the field of Cardiology. This experience should encompass a range of cardiology practices, including patient consultations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment planning, ensuring that the candidate is well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English is mandatory for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
