Job Overview:
The Communication Intern position is situated within the Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate (OVRA) at the United Nations. This office was established as part of a strategic initiative to enhance the protection of victims of sexual exploitation and abuse, ensuring their rights and dignity are prioritized in the UN's response to such allegations. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the OVRA's mission by assisting in various communication-related tasks. This includes conducting research, developing communication strategies, and creating multimedia content. The intern will work closely with the Human Rights Officer and will be expected to engage in both internal and external communication efforts, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the office's outreach and advocacy initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communication Intern will be responsible for a range of duties aimed at supporting the Office of the Victims' Rights Advocate. Key responsibilities include: conducting research and analysis on issues relevant to the mandate of the VRA; assisting in the implementation of communication strategies; producing multimedia and digital content; designing and updating presentations and communication materials; engaging in public information activities and outreach; monitoring and tracking social media engagement; attending meetings and conferences to take notes; and performing other related duties as assigned. The intern will be expected to demonstrate initiative and creativity in their work, contributing to the office's goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet specific criteria set by the United Nations Internship Programme. Candidates should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). Proficiency in standard software applications is required, and applicants should have a background in relevant fields such as communication, journalism, web design, or marketing. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential. Additionally, candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate program or the final year of an undergraduate program. Relevant fields of study include communication, journalism, web design, data visualization, and marketing. Familiarity with graphic and web design applications is also beneficial, as it aligns with the responsibilities of producing multimedia content and communication materials.

Experience:
