Job Overview: The IC-Value Chain Specialist position is designed for an individual contractor who will be responsible for enhancing the value chain processes within the procurement framework of UNDP. The specialist will analyze and optimize the value chain to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in procurement processes. This role requires a deep understanding of supply chain management, procurement strategies, and the ability to implement best practices in value chain management. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies that align with UNDP's mission and objectives. The position is expected to last for a period of 12 months, during which the contractor will be expected to deliver high-quality outputs that contribute to the overall goals of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the IC-Value Chain Specialist include but are not limited to:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of existing value chain processes and identifying inefficiencies.
Developing and implementing strategies to optimize procurement processes and enhance value chain performance.
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on value chain operations.
Providing training and support to procurement teams on best practices in value chain management.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented strategies and making necessary adjustments.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for senior management.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP procurement policies and procedures throughout the value chain.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field. A proven track record of successfully managing value chain processes is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with UNDP's procurement policies and procedures will be considered an asset. Candidates should also exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
Educational Background: A minimum of a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline will be considered an advantage. Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, APICS) are also desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in value chain management, procurement, or supply chain operations. Experience working with international organizations or in a development context is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience in project management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams will be beneficial for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNDP. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the regions where UNDP operates, would be considered an asset and could enhance a candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as a full-time contract for a duration of 12 months. The role is open to both national and international candidates.
