Job Overview: The Data Analyst/Visualization Expert will play a crucial role in supporting the Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat by maintaining a comprehensive and effective monitoring, reporting, and information management system. This position is essential for enabling the effective tracking of progress in the implementation of the Global Framework on Chemicals. The individual will be responsible for producing high-quality, data-driven insights that inform decision-making and reporting processes. The role requires a strong focus on data collection, analysis, and visualization to identify trends and patterns that can guide strategic planning and implementation efforts. The Data Analyst will also be tasked with ensuring timely and accurate reporting on progress against established targets, thereby contributing to the overall success of the GFC's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Collect and analyze data to identify trends or patterns, providing insights through various data visualization methods such as graphs, charts, tables, and reports to facilitate data-driven planning and decision-making. 2) Manage the new framework instrument reporting process, including tracking progress and measurability to report to the Global Framework on Chemicals by all participants, and support the assessment of progress towards the objectives and indicators. 3) Ensure that knowledge management processes for identifying, organizing, storing, and disseminating information in support of the Global Framework on Chemicals implementation are secured. This includes managing databases to support implementation and promoting the exchange of relevant scientific and technical information among stakeholders. 4) Facilitate the development and dissemination of guidance materials, including alternative funding mechanisms, to support the implementation of the Global Framework on Chemicals by stakeholders. 5) Perform other duties as required to support the overall objectives of the GFC.
Required Qualifications: - An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in economics, sustainable development, social sciences, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of study with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. - Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is required for this data analytics-focused position. - Proven experience in mining data from various sources is essential. - Familiarity with information technology tools, including artificial intelligence tools, is necessary. - A minimum of four (4) years of experience in data analytics or a related area is required. - Experience working in an intergovernmental environment is preferred.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as economics, sustainable development, or social sciences. Alternatively, a first-level degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of relevant work experience. Additionally, completion of programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is required, emphasizing the importance of a strong educational foundation in data-related disciplines.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in data analytics or a related field. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully analyzing data and providing insights that inform decision-making processes. Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, a proficiency level of English (level III) is required.
