Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UNICEF involves providing emotional support and prevention assistance to the Bolivian community through a call center service. Volunteers will work in shifts of 8-10 hours per week, offering their services during agreed-upon hours. This role is designed to help individuals of all ages, with a focus on vulnerable populations such as women in violent situations, migrants, and the LGBTQI+ community. Volunteers will undergo comprehensive training on care protocols, case management, and call center operations, ensuring they are well-prepared to provide effective support. Participation in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia is highly encouraged, and volunteers are required to complete basic self-guided courses available on the virtual learning platform.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional support and prevention assistance through a call center service, working in shifts of 8-10 hours per week.
  • Participate in comprehensive training on care protocols, case management, and call center operations.
  • Engage actively in synchronous training sessions and periodic activities organized by UNICEF Bolivia.
  • Complete mandatory self-guided courses on the virtual learning platform.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical commitments as outlined by UNICEF.
  • Report any emotional discomfort, technical limitations, or ethical/security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security incidents to the designated supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure a distraction-free workspace to provide effective support.
  • Follow all guidelines and protocols established by UNICEF Bolivia to safeguard the integrity of beneficiaries and volunteers.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide emotional support and handle sensitive situations with care.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with call center operations.
  • Willingness to participate in training and continuous learning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and availability for shifts.

Educational Background:
A background in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant training or certifications in emotional support or crisis intervention will be considered an asset.

Experience:
Previous experience in providing emotional support, counseling, or working in a call center environment is advantageous. Experience working with vulnerable populations or in humanitarian settings is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the service is provided to the Bolivian community. Knowledge of English or indigenous languages spoken in Bolivia is a plus, as it may enhance communication with diverse populations.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with no financial compensation. Volunteers are expected to commit to the specified hours and participate in training sessions. The role is designed to be remote, allowing volunteers to work from home. Volunteers must have a reliable internet connection and meet the technical requirements outlined in the job description.
