Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer is designed to support the Capacity Development Team (CDT) within the Human Resources Section (HRS) of UNV. The primary function of this role is to assist in conducting quantitative data analysis of the UNV Learning Programmes. The Online Volunteer will work under the guidance of a Learning Associate and will be involved in discussing and consolidating indicators and datasets for analysis. This role is crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of the UNV Capacity Development Learning Facility Programme and UNV Youth Workshops, which are initiatives aimed at enhancing the professional development of UN Volunteers. The volunteer will have the opportunity to engage with data that informs the improvement of learning initiatives and addresses the learning needs of UN Volunteers, thereby contributing to the overall mission of UNV.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for several key tasks:
  • Discussing and consolidating indicators and datasets necessary for the analysis exercise.
  • Suggesting relevant indicators and developing a tabulation plan to facilitate the analysis process.
  • Conducting a thorough analysis of the provided data to identify trends, patterns, and key findings that emerge from the datasets.
  • Developing a comprehensive report based on the agreed reporting plan, which will include both visualizations and narrative interpretations of the findings as required.
  • Regularly updating the team on progress during scheduled calls, ensuring clear communication and collaboration throughout the analysis process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of quantitative data analysis. Familiarity with statistical software or data analysis tools is highly desirable. Additionally, the ability to communicate findings effectively through reports and presentations is essential. The volunteer should demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and possess good organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently.

Educational Background:
A background in fields such as statistics, data science, social sciences, or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates should have a solid foundation in research methodologies and data analysis techniques, which will enable them to perform the required tasks effectively.

Experience:
While specific prior experience may not be mandatory, any previous involvement in data analysis projects, research roles, or volunteer work in similar capacities would be advantageous. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with data and have a keen interest in learning and development within the context of volunteerism.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communication and reporting will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to UNV's operational regions, would be considered a plus but is not required for this position.
