Job Overview: The position involves the recruitment of four consultants who will be responsible for the development of the agro-industrial plan for Cameroon. This role is crucial as it aims to enhance the agricultural sector's contribution to the economy by creating a structured plan that aligns with national development goals. The consultants will be expected to conduct thorough research, engage with stakeholders, and provide actionable recommendations that will facilitate the growth of agro-industrial activities in the country. The consultants will work closely with UNDP and other partners to ensure that the plan is comprehensive and sustainable, addressing both current needs and future challenges in the agro-industrial sector.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultants will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities including:
Conducting a comprehensive analysis of the current agro-industrial landscape in Cameroon, identifying key challenges and opportunities.
Engaging with local stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector actors, and community organizations, to gather insights and foster collaboration.
Developing a detailed agro-industrial plan that outlines strategic objectives, implementation strategies, and expected outcomes.
Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to UNDP and other stakeholders.
Providing ongoing support and expertise during the implementation phase of the agro-industrial plan, ensuring that it remains aligned with national priorities.
Monitoring and evaluating the progress of the plan, making adjustments as necessary based on feedback and changing circumstances.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in agricultural economics, development studies, or a related field. They should have proven experience in project management, particularly in the context of agricultural development or industrial planning. Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable strategies are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in agricultural economics, development studies, business administration, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications in project management or agricultural development will be considered an asset.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in agricultural development, project management, or policy analysis. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the agro-industrial sector in Cameroon or similar contexts will be an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as the position requires communication with local stakeholders and the preparation of documents in French. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international partners. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Cameroon would be considered a plus.
Additional Notes: This position is for individual contractors and is expected to be full-time for the duration of the project. The contract duration will be specified in the terms of engagement, and the consultants will be expected to work closely with UNDP throughout the project lifecycle. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The recruitment process is open to both national and international candidates.
