Job Overview:
The position of Especialista Pedagógico del Proyecto UNESCO-Quellaveco-REIMAGINA involves providing pedagogical assistance to the Project Coordinator in implementing educational activities in schools. The role requires coordination, management, and articulation of functions among advisors for change and engagement with schools involved in the project. The specialist will also provide technical assistance to authorities and specialists from the DREMO and UGEL in the Moquegua region. The project aims to improve the learning experiences of 12,000 students by promoting innovative methodologies that enrich academic experiences and develop socio-emotional and digital skills. The specialist will be responsible for preparing specific work plans, coordinating with educational institutions, monitoring the effective use of resources, and facilitating communication among participating institutions. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure the successful implementation of educational strategies and the achievement of project objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Especialista Pedagógico include:
  • Preparing a specific work plan for activities to be developed in schools, including a timeline, responsible parties, and necessary resources.
  • Coordinating with educational institutions and local authorities to ensure the implementation of project advisory services.
  • Preparing presentations detailing the pedagogical interventions to be conducted in schools, including schedules and monitoring instruments.
  • Identifying technical and programmatic needs in targeted educational institutions.
  • Monitoring the effective use of materials and resources allocated for educational projects.
  • Organizing workshops and meetings to support the development of pedagogical strategies.
  • Assisting educational authorities and specialists according to defined priorities and the approved annual work plan.
  • Facilitating communication and sharing of best practices among participating educational institutions.
  • Systematizing educational projects designed with active methodologies, particularly project-based learning (ABP). 1
  • Promoting the relationship between schools and communities for the development of socially impactful educational projects. 1
  • Monitoring the strengthening of school leadership and teaching teams to foster school transformation. 1
  • Coordinating logistics for training activities and meetings. 1
  • Developing proposals for visibility and advocacy activities related to the project. 1
  • Evaluating the performance of advisors for change and ensuring the quality of training actions.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include:
  • A bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or related fields.
  • Completed postgraduate studies in education, social sciences, humanities, or related areas (desirable).
  • Over 10 years of professional experience in education.
  • At least 8 years of teaching experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational projects as an advisor, pedagogical monitor, or technical assistance provider.
  • Experience in leadership roles in educational programs or projects, such as manager, coordinator, or director.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or related fields. Additionally, having completed postgraduate studies in relevant areas is desirable, as it demonstrates a deeper understanding of educational theories and practices that can enhance the effectiveness of the role.

Experience:
The position requires extensive experience in the field of education, specifically:
  • More than 10 years of professional experience in education.
  • At least 8 years of experience in teaching roles.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in educational projects, particularly in advisory or technical assistance roles.
  • Experience in leadership positions within educational programs or projects, indicating a capacity for management and coordination.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is Spanish, at a native level. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly English, as it can facilitate communication with international partners and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy will be based in the Moquegua region, and the selected professional must either reside in Moquegua or be willing to relocate. The contract duration is 11 months, subject to budget availability and performance evaluation. The position does not include expectations for renewal or conversion to another type of contract, nor does it provide coverage for medical services. The professional must be available for travel within and outside the country as required by the project, with travel costs covered by the project according to UNESCO's internal regulations.
