National Consultant for UX/UI Web Application Design and Implementation

Job Overview:
The position of National Consultant for UX/UI Web Application Design and Implementation is crucial for the development of user-friendly web applications that meet the needs of users while aligning with the strategic goals of UNDP in Bangladesh. The consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) solutions that enhance the usability and accessibility of web applications. This role requires a deep understanding of user-centered design principles, as well as the ability to translate complex requirements into intuitive and engaging interfaces. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, conduct user research, and create prototypes and wireframes. The position is expected to last for 75 working days over a period of 6 months, during which the consultant will deliver high-quality design solutions that improve user satisfaction and engagement with UNDP's digital platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Conducting user research to understand the needs and behaviors of target users.
• Developing user personas and user journey maps to inform design decisions.
• Creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web applications.
• Collaborating with developers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and effectively.
• Conducting usability testing to gather feedback and iterating on designs based on user input.
• Ensuring that all designs adhere to accessibility standards and best practices.
• Providing recommendations for improving existing web applications based on user feedback and analytics.
• Documenting design processes and decisions for future reference.
• Participating in project meetings and providing updates on design progress. 1
• Engaging with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in UX/UI design, with a proven track record of delivering successful web applications. Required qualifications include:

• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar software.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
• Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
• Knowledge of web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• A portfolio showcasing previous UX/UI design work is required.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset. Additional certifications in UX/UI design or related areas will be advantageous.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3-5 years of professional experience in UX/UI design, specifically in web application design. Experience working with international organizations or in the development sector is highly desirable. Proven experience in leading design projects from concept to completion is essential, along with a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant work.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Bengali is an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and users. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 75 working days over a period of 6 months. The consultant is expected to work remotely, with the possibility of occasional in-person meetings as required. The position is open to both national and international candidates.
