Job Overview:
The Resource Mobilization Analyst plays a crucial role within the Public Financing and Funding Branch (PFFB) of the Division of External Relations (DER) at UNFPA headquarters in New York. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining research and analysis products that support resource mobilization efforts and enhance visibility and outreach to specific Member States of the United Nations. Reporting directly to the Humanitarian Financing and Partnerships Specialist, the analyst will track and analyze humanitarian funding trends, support donor engagement around appeals such as the Humanitarian Action Overview (HAO), and strengthen outreach to public-sector partners contributing to UNFPA’s humanitarian response. The role requires a proactive approach to understanding the political, economic, and social environments of Member States, ensuring that UNFPA's funding strategies are aligned with the needs and priorities of these countries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Resource Mobilization Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Conducting research and analysis on specific themes, trends, or Member States' policy objectives to support the Public Funding and Financing Branch and the North American Representational Office.
  • Serving as the country/regional resource mobilization focal point for the USA, which includes scanning political, economic, and social environments, flagging key moments relevant to UNFPA’s work, and drafting/updating information documents for key donors.
  • Analyzing humanitarian funding contributions and donor trends to inform resource mobilization efforts for crisis-affected contexts.
  • Preparing humanitarian donor briefs, funding snapshots, and appeals to engage with key Member States.
  • Disseminating rules and regulations for effective grant spending and reporting, including developing systems for compliance with partner requirements.
  • Creating and updating visibility products for specific Member States, organizing events to highlight partnerships, and developing storytelling materials that showcase the impact of humanitarian contributions.
  • Providing analytical and coordination support to the Humanitarian Financing and Partnerships Specialist and assisting with donor outreach and tracking of contributions.
  • Carrying out any other duties as assigned by UNFPA leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in International Policy, Development, or a related discipline. They should have a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, particularly in UN resource mobilization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of working independently without constant supervision. A solid understanding of international development policies, international affairs, and the UN system is essential. Experience in humanitarian financing, appeals, or donor engagement in crisis contexts is considered an asset. Proficiency in relevant software applications is also required.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in International Policy, Development, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of international development and the specific challenges faced in resource mobilization and humanitarian financing.

Experience:
The Resource Mobilization Analyst should have at least two years of relevant work experience, particularly in the context of UN resource mobilization. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to analyze funding trends, engage with donors, and support humanitarian financing efforts. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working effectively in challenging environments and managing multiple priorities.

Languages:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory. Knowledge of other official UN languages, particularly French and/or Spanish, is desirable and would be considered an asset for this position.
