Job Overview:

The position involves expanding the UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators framework by developing a robust methodology that integrates indicators for climate adaptation and resilience. This work is essential for understanding how cultural practices can contribute to climate action and how climate change impacts cultural heritage. The consultant will be responsible for reviewing existing methodologies, identifying gaps, and proposing new indicators that align with international climate frameworks. The role requires collaboration with experts and stakeholders to ensure that the proposed methodologies are actionable and effective in measuring culture's contribution to climate resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's primary responsibilities include reviewing the current UNESCO Culture|2030 Indicators framework, focusing on the methodology and data related to climate change adaptation and resilience. The consultant will identify gaps in the existing framework and develop criteria for selecting and validating new indicators. This includes preparing a draft report that outlines the expanded methodology and proposing adjustments to existing data tables. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate a workshop with experts to present the proposed methodology and gather feedback, which will be incorporated into a final report with recommendations for implementation. The consultant will also be responsible for ensuring that all deliverables are completed within the specified timelines, including a draft report within 1.5 months and a final report within 2 months of the first deliverable.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in fields such as Cultural Policy, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Social Sciences, or Statistics. They should have a minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in areas related to culture and sustainable development, climate change adaptation, or resilience-building. Proven experience in developing or applying indicators and methodologies related to sustainable development or climate action is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong analytical and drafting skills in English, with the ability to produce high-quality technical reports. Experience in facilitating multicultural expert groups or workshops is also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in relevant fields is mandatory. Additional training or certification in monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or indicator development is desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of relevant professional experience, preferably at the international level. Experience within the United Nations system or other international organizations is highly valued, particularly in roles that involve developing indicators or methodologies related to culture and climate change.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Good knowledge of French or any other UN language is considered an asset and may be beneficial for candidates applying for this role.

This consultancy position is home-based, with the possibility of conducting workshops online. The contract duration ranges from 1 to 6 months, and the recruitment is open to external candidates.
