Job Overview:
The position involves providing consultancy services to conduct a Market Feasibility Study for the Upanga Commercial Complex project in Tanzania. The consultant will be responsible for assessing the market conditions, potential demand, and overall feasibility of the commercial complex. This includes analyzing economic trends, identifying target markets, and evaluating competition. The consultant will also be expected to provide recommendations based on their findings to ensure the project's success. The assignment is expected to last for a period of three months, during which the consultant will gather data, conduct interviews, and prepare a comprehensive report detailing their analysis and recommendations. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that the study meets the required standards and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a thorough market analysis to assess the feasibility of the Upanga Commercial Complex project.
  • Identify and analyze potential target markets and customer segments.
  • Evaluate the competitive landscape and identify key competitors in the area.
  • Gather and analyze economic data and trends that may impact the project.
  • Conduct interviews and surveys with stakeholders, potential customers, and industry experts to gather insights.
  • Prepare a detailed report summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations for the project.
  • Present findings to UNDP and other stakeholders, providing clear and actionable insights.
  • Ensure that all work is completed within the specified timeline and meets the quality standards set by UNDP.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in conducting market feasibility studies or similar consultancy work.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market trends.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively present findings.
  • Familiarity with the commercial real estate market in Tanzania or similar markets is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for data analysis and report writing.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, market research, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline would be an advantage.

Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in market research, feasibility studies, or consultancy services. Experience working with international organizations or in the development sector is preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Swahili or other local languages would be an asset, as it may facilitate communication with local stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this consultancy is three months. This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and it is expected to be a full-time engagement during the assignment period. The consultant will be required to submit their proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal, and any inquiries must be made through the messaging functionality in the portal. Compensation details and benefits will be discussed during the negotiation phase.
