Job Overview:
The Emergency Recovery and Resilience Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of project activities aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of vulnerable populations in Lebanon. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the ERR Programme Manager and the ERR National Project Officer. The position involves assisting in the monitoring and implementation of project activities, compiling and presenting data on specific project topics, and ensuring the effective management of project budgets. The role also includes administrative coordination, drafting reports and correspondence, organizing meetings and training sessions, and responding to information requests. The candidate will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the Emergency Recovery and Resilience project by ensuring that activities align with the urgent demand for skilled labor and support community stability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities to ensure they are executed effectively and efficiently.
  • Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics to support decision-making processes.
  • Monitor project budgets, verify the availability of funds, obtain necessary approvals, and update budget-related information as required.
  • Support the administrative coordination of project implementation, liaising with various organizational units and external parties to initiate requests and process administrative actions.
  • Draft status reports that identify shortfalls in delivery and bring them to the attention of the supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other documentation as needed.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions to facilitate project activities and stakeholder engagement.
  • Respond to general information requests and inquiries, maintaining organized files and records for easy access.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to support project objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a school diploma with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations, as well as experience working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes either a school diploma with four years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. The degree must be from an accredited institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant professional experience, specifically two years for those with a Bachelor’s degree or four years for those with a school diploma. Experience should include working with governmental authorities, international organizations, and vulnerable populations such as migrants and refugees. Familiarity with the operations of international humanitarian organizations is highly desirable, as is experience in a multi-cultural environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. A working knowledge of French is desirable, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. This post is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Lebanon will be considered.
