Job Overview:
The Associate Banker position is integral to the EBRD's project cycle, encompassing project origination, structuring, execution, and implementation. The role requires the Associate Banker to engage in comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with financial, market, integrity, and EBRD policies. The Associate Banker will work closely with an operation leader and may also be involved in business development and client management. This position is designed to cultivate transaction expertise and prepare the Associate Banker for future leadership roles within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Banker will be responsible for various tasks under the guidance of an operation leader or senior banker. Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and Execution: Collaborate with project teams on transactions, ensuring high-quality project due diligence, preparing internal documentation, and managing technical cooperation assistance.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Oversee project implementation and compliance, monitor financial performance, assess risks, and prepare monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Business Development: Assist in marketing and business development initiatives as needed. The role is designed to enhance the Associate Banker’s skills and prepare them for more complex transactions and leadership responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and utilize financial models. Proficiency in credit analysis and familiarity with local and international accounting principles are also required. Candidates should be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and financial modeling software, and possess excellent communication skills in English and French, with knowledge of additional local languages being advantageous.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory for this position, while a Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates with equivalent experience in finance or related fields will also be considered. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are highly regarded and can enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
Relevant experience in the financial industry is crucial, ideally from a development finance institution, investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or international auditing/financial consulting firm. Candidates should have practical experience in participating in transactions throughout the project life cycle, with a strong understanding of country or regional dynamics being highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in any additional local or country-specific languages is considered a valuable asset and may enhance communication with local stakeholders.
