Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Consultant position is designed to enhance the effectiveness of UNDP's operations in Montenegro by leveraging knowledge management practices. The consultant will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that facilitate the sharing of knowledge and best practices within the organization and with external stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of knowledge management principles and the ability to apply them in a practical context. The consultant will work closely with various teams to identify knowledge gaps, create knowledge-sharing platforms, and promote a culture of learning and collaboration. The position is expected to contribute significantly to the overall mission of UNDP by ensuring that valuable insights and experiences are documented and disseminated effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Knowledge Management Consultant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Conducting assessments of current knowledge management practices within UNDP Montenegro and identifying areas for improvement.
Developing a knowledge management strategy that aligns with UNDP's goals and objectives.
Creating and maintaining knowledge repositories, databases, and other tools to facilitate knowledge sharing.
Organizing training sessions and workshops to enhance the knowledge management skills of UNDP staff and partners.
Collaborating with other UN agencies and stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of knowledge management initiatives and making recommendations for enhancements.
Preparing reports and presentations on knowledge management activities and outcomes for internal and external audiences.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in knowledge management, organizational development, or a related field. A proven track record of developing and implementing knowledge management strategies in a complex organizational environment is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Familiarity with UNDP's mission and operations will be considered an asset. Candidates should also have strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from various sources.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Organizational Development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in knowledge management or related disciplines will be considered an advantage. Candidates should have a solid understanding of knowledge management frameworks and methodologies, as well as experience in utilizing technology to support knowledge sharing.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in knowledge management, organizational development, or a related area. Experience working with international organizations, particularly within the UN system, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage projects and initiatives effectively, with a focus on achieving results. Experience in training and capacity building in knowledge management practices is also preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Montenegro will be considered an asset. Candidates who possess additional language skills relevant to the region may have a competitive advantage.
