Job Overview:
This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience within the Northeast Asia and the Pacific Team of the UN's Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA). The intern will engage in a variety of tasks that support the team's mission to prevent and resolve conflicts in the Asia and Pacific regions. The role is full-time, requiring a commitment of 35 hours per week, and is intended for individuals who are eager to gain practical experience in international relations and peacebuilding efforts. Interns will work closely with the Team Leader and other team members, contributing to research, report preparation, and strategic communications, while also developing skills in project management and data collection.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties that include: conducting research on UN peacebuilding efforts in Asia and the Pacific, particularly focusing on the Pacific region; assisting in the preparation of reports, concept papers, policy documents, and other materials relevant to the team's work; supporting the development of strategic communications, presentations, and visualizations; attending conferences and meetings, taking notes, and providing logistical support; assisting in data collection and information management; and contributing to project management development. These responsibilities will provide the intern with a well-rounded understanding of the UN's operations and the complexities of international peacebuilding.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria set by the United Nations Internship Programme. Candidates must be either enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). While professional work experience is not required, applicants should have a field of study closely related to the internship, such as international relations, international development, peacebuilding, or conflict prevention. A demonstrated interest in the Northeast Asia and the Pacific region is also desirable, indicating a commitment to understanding the challenges and opportunities within this area.
