Job Posting Organization:
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a prominent protection agency established to advocate for and promote durable solutions for populations affected by displacement. Since its inception, DRC has been dedicated to protecting vulnerable communities and ensuring their rights are upheld. The organization has been operational in Ukraine since 2014, employing over 800 staff members who work across various sectors including Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs, and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding. DRC employs a multifaceted approach that includes direct interventions, support to duty bearers, and partnerships with civil society organizations (CSOs). As the context in Ukraine evolves, DRC is committed to adapting its durable solutions portfolio to meet the changing needs of the affected populations.

Job Overview:
The IT Assistant position is crucial for the effective functioning of the Danish Refugee Council's operations in Ukraine. Under the technical supervision of the IT Specialist, the IT Assistant will provide essential IT support to all DRC employees, ensuring that the organization's systems and networks operate smoothly. This role is vital in enabling staff to concentrate on their primary mission of improving lives and making a positive impact in the communities they serve. The IT Assistant will be responsible for receiving and processing user requests, providing technical support, performing diagnostics, and resolving issues related to computer hardware and software. Additionally, the role involves system maintenance, conducting training sessions, and developing user manuals, which are all integral to maintaining a high level of IT service within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: receiving and processing user requests through phone and the Service Desk system; providing technical support to staff in both the head office and regional offices; performing initial diagnostics and resolving issues with computer hardware and software; carrying out system maintenance tasks such as updates, antivirus checks, and data backups; conducting training and information sessions for employees on various technical topics; traveling to regional offices as required; and developing user manuals, guides, and instructions to assist staff in utilizing IT resources effectively.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the IT Assistant position, candidates must possess a degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of one year of experience in IT support or administration" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">system administration. Proficiency in English at a pre-intermediate level is required. Candidates must also have a solid understanding of and experience in supporting personal computers, servers, and printing hardware. Knowledge of TCP/IP networks, routers, Fortigate/Pfsense firewalls, VPNs, and wireless technologies is essential. Familiarity with M365 or other office software suites, as well as experience in supporting and configuring Windows operating systems, is also required. Experience working in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field to be eligible for the IT Assistant position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding complex IT systems and supporting the technological needs of the organization.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least one year of relevant experience in IT support or system administration. This experience is crucial for effectively managing the technical challenges that may arise in a dynamic work environment such as that of the Danish Refugee Council.

Languages:
Proficiency in English at a pre-intermediate level is mandatory for this position. While English is the primary language of communication within the organization, additional language skills may be beneficial, particularly in the context of working with diverse populations affected by displacement.

Additional Notes:
The IT Assistant position is offered with a contract length that includes a 3-month probation period, with the possibility of extension until 28th February 2026, contingent upon performance. The position is classified as Band I non-management, and the designated duty station is Kyiv. The start date for this role is as soon as possible. Salary and conditions will be aligned with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contracts.
