Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will report directly to the Representative of UNICEF in Iran and will be involved in various planning and organizational tasks associated with the front office. This role is pivotal in supporting UNICEF Iran’s partnerships and resource mobilization efforts, particularly in fostering collaboration with donors and stakeholders linked to China. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and cultivating innovative funding opportunities from diverse sources, including public, private, and philanthropic entities. This position not only aims to enhance UNICEF's visibility and alignment with donor priorities but also serves as a bridge for knowledge management and policy dialogue, addressing the evolving humanitarian and development needs in Iran.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Volunteer include leading donor mapping and strategic engagement efforts targeting China-related public and private sector donors. The incumbent will develop and implement a partnership and resource mobilization plan that aligns with UNICEF Iran’s Country Programme and national priorities. They will draft compelling proposals, donor briefs, and partnership materials to position UNICEF as a key partner for investment in children in Iran. Monitoring geopolitical, economic, and philanthropic trends relevant to China’s engagement in Iran and the region is essential to anticipate opportunities and risks. The volunteer will act as the focal point for China-related donor engagement, facilitating dialogue, organizing high-level briefings, and ensuring timely communications. Additionally, they will support broader resource mobilization efforts with other emerging donors in Asia and beyond, provide strategic guidance and capacity-building support to colleagues, and contribute to knowledge management by disseminating good practices and emerging evidence across UNICEF Iran’s teams. The volunteer will also contribute articles and write-ups for UNV publications and assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UN Volunteers, along with performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a strong background in partnership development and resource mobilization, with a focus on engaging with donors. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate the ability to draft compelling proposals and donor materials. A deep understanding of geopolitical and economic trends, particularly related to China, is essential. The volunteer should also have experience in knowledge management and capacity building, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical skills and the ability to anticipate opportunities and risks in the funding landscape are crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a degree in international relations, development studies, public administration, or a related field. A postgraduate degree is preferred, as it provides a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in partnerships and resource mobilization within the context of humanitarian and development work.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNICEF or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the funding landscape in Asia, especially concerning China-related donors, will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within UNICEF and with international stakeholders. Proficiency in Mandarin or other Chinese dialects is highly desirable, given the focus on China-related partnerships. Knowledge of Persian (Farsi) would also be beneficial for engaging with local stakeholders and understanding the cultural context.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role based in Tehran, Iran, which is classified as a Category B family duty station. The living conditions in Tehran are generally secure, but candidates must adhere to UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols due to political sensitivities and occasional civil unrest. The cost of living is moderate, and while medical services are available, access to specialized care may be limited. The role may involve challenges related to banking restrictions due to sanctions, and candidates should be prepared for these conditions.
