Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position is designed to support the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Nigeria, particularly in the lead-up to the International Volunteer Year (IVY) 202
  • The role involves creating engaging social media content that raises awareness about volunteerism and promotes the significance of International Volunteer Day (IVD) and IVY 202
  • Volunteers will work under the guidance of the UNV West and Central Africa Communications Team and collaborate closely with the UNV Nigeria Field Unit communications team. The primary goal is to produce 100 messages that will be transformed into social media cards and short videos, thereby amplifying the impact of volunteer stories and encouraging public participation in volunteer-driven initiatives that align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a global initiative while enhancing communication skills and gaining experience in digital content creation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected Online Volunteers will be responsible for drafting compelling and engaging messages that promote International Volunteer Day and the International Volunteer Year. Specific duties include developing creative message ideas tailored for diverse audiences, drafting captions and short posts, creating key messages and storytelling excerpts, and collaborating with the communications team to ensure alignment with campaign guidelines. Additionally, volunteers will contribute written content for social media posts and short scripts for video messages, and share finalized content across their personal social media platforms. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess strong writing and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to create engaging content for social media.
