This role involves creating compelling social media cards and digital graphics that will be used to promote volunteerism and raise awareness about the significance of volunteer efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Volunteers will work closely with the UNV West and Central Africa Communications Team and the UNV Nigeria Field Unit communications team to produce high-quality visual content that aligns with the campaign's messaging and branding. The role is crucial in amplifying the contributions of UN Volunteers and their partners, showcasing the impact of volunteerism, and encouraging community participation in volunteer-driven initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Online Volunteers will be tasked with producing 100 social media cards to enhance visibility for the IVY 2026 campaign. Key responsibilities include:
Creating branded social media cards, banners, and infographics tailored for platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Designing visually appealing templates that accurately reflect the campaign's messaging and identity.
Supporting video production teams by providing simple graphic elements as needed.
Developing designs in accordance with agreed requirements and ensuring compliance with the provided branding and visual guidelines.
Sharing approved designs across personal networks to maximize reach and engagement. The corporate design guidelines will be provided to Online Volunteers prior to the commencement of their tasks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess a strong background in graphic design, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools. They should have a keen eye for aesthetics and attention to detail, ensuring that all designs are visually appealing and aligned with the campaign's objectives. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate creativity and the ability to conceptualize and execute design ideas that resonate with diverse audiences. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating effectively with the UNV communications teams and for sharing designs within their networks.
Educational Background: A degree or equivalent qualification in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or a related field is preferred for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of design principles and experience in creating digital content for social media platforms. Relevant coursework or certifications in graphic design will be considered an asset.
Experience: While prior experience in volunteerism or working with non-profit organizations is beneficial, it is not mandatory. However, candidates should have a proven track record of producing high-quality graphic designs and a portfolio showcasing their work. Experience in social media marketing and an understanding of the dynamics of various social media platforms will be advantageous.
